Many visa sailors are putting their racing skills to work at a variety of colleges.

Colleges in the VISA area that have college varsity sailing teams include Old Dominion University, Christopher New Port University, Hampton University and Georgetown University.

Virginia Tech, University of Virginia, and the College of William and Mary, are organized as a club sport.

Mitch Brindley, ODU Sailing coach and 2009 Olympic Sailing Coach, recently noted that high school sailing has gone from being largely ignored by colleges to becoming the most important new source of sailors in the sport.
